Description
The Medici were the most important family in all of Europe between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Very rich bankers, powerful politicians, businessmen and patrons of the arts, they were sponsor of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Donatello, Vasari and opened the doors to the Renaissance. But who really were the Medici? How did they live? What did they eat? What did they die of? The research carried out for over twenty years by the Division of Paleopathology of the University of Pisa is giving answers to all these questions, redesigning, under a bioarchaeological, historical and molecular profile, the roots of these extraordinary women and men.
